Orange County Regional History Center
Orange County

Construction Management

PSA Constructors, Inc., in association with Turner Construction Company, provided 20% of the construction management services for the construction of the Orange County Regional History Center in Orlando, Florida.  PSA provided the project engineer for contract administration, QA/QC, and M/WBE program management services.

To begin with, the renovation was complicated due to the extent of the project encompassing extensive work on three streets, a plaza area and an extensive restoration and complicated fit out of an existing 1927 building.  A year before the project actually started, Turner/PSA worked with the design team, Orange County, the Historical Society, the city of Orlando and many other interested parties to get this enormous undertaking to budget.

This project, located in downtown Orlando, is a complete restoration of exterior including replacement of south façade with limestone to match the original.  The interior is a complete renovation to upgrade to current codes, restoration of an existing courtroom and includes new exhibits.

This project included:
b Conversion of the existing 5-story 1927 Orange County Courthouse building to a
    regional historical museum.
b The center includes a plaza, all related site-work with exfiltration facilities, paving,
     landscaping and irrigation.

The museum offers galleries/exhibits, an education and research center, collections, visitor services and museum administration support.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Landmark Memorial
Martin Luther King, Jr. Coordinating Committee

Construction Management

PSA Constructors, Inc. provided construction management services for the construction of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Landmark Memorial Project in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The project located adjacent to the waterfront on approximately one acre of land in the southern most end of Currie Park, overlooks scenic Lake Worth and the Town of Palm Beach.  The Memorial is the largest of its type in Florida and one of the largest memorials commemorating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. anywhere in the Southern United States. The Memorial is designed to accommodate large gatherings and to serve as an instructional site for students of all ages to learn more about Dr. King's life and teachings of non-violence, tolerance of diversity and love for all mankind.  It also serves as a quiet place for thought and introspection.

The Memorial gardens are tropically landscaped and contain numerous plaques and photos commemorating Dr. King's life, family and speeches interspersed with highlights of the civil rights movement.  A sculpture and cascading water wall serve as the centerpiece for the memorial.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial project is a public-private partnership. Funds for its development were raised primarily through private contributions.  The land was donated courtesy of the City of West Palm Beach, which also provided $150,000 in support for park infrastructure.  Construction management services were provided by PSA Constructors, Inc. at no cost to the client.
